Hush Heath Estate in Kent, is celebrating after being named Best Sparkling Wine UK at the Fizz Festival 2016.
Hush Heath Balfour Brut Rosé 2012 took the top spot as a People’s Choice Award Winner and was awarded a trophy at two separate regional events of The Fizz Festival. The family-owned boutique winery won Best Sparkling Wine UK at both events for the same wine.
These events collectively welcome fizz-loving consumers to taste over 100 sparkling wines from around the world and to vote for their favourites in three categories.
“I was very proud to collect the award on behalf of Hush Heath for our Balfour Brut Rosé 2012” commented Zoë Dearsley of Hush Heath. “The Fizz Festival comprises informative yet informal events for sparkling wine fans and it’s wonderful to share our wines from Kent with consumers in Edinburgh and Cheshire."
“The whole team is delighted to see the growing list of national and international awards for our wines that are all made from single estate fruit at our home at Hush Heath Estate,” Dearsley said.
Balfour Brut Rosé 2012 is produced from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier grown exclusively on Hush Heath Estate. The wine is crafted using the traditional method made famous in Champagne. The palest of pale pinks with a fine bubble, the nose of Balfour Brut Rosé 2012 is very clean with hints of rosehip, herbs and raspberries. The sparkler is intensely vinous with nicely restrained acidity and a palate that is bursting with redcurrant and sloe fruits, with a long finish.
Since the first vines were planted at Hush Heath in 2002, the Estate has grown its product range substantially and now offers a selection of wines and ciders all produced from fruit grown in 400 acres of immaculate vineyards and apple orchards.
